AWESOME!!! Samsung BD-C6900 vs. Samsung BD-C7900

I upgraded from the Samsung 6900...which was exactly the same as the 7900 except the 7900 has two HDMI outputs...1 HDMI (video/audio) and 1 HDMI (audio). The 6900 does have 7.1 analog outputs that way the blu-ray player does the decoding for all the HD audio formats...but since my Onkyo receiver also decodes HD audio I wanted to have the settings at BITSTREAM (AUDIOPHILE). My receiver is 1.3 HDMI compatible but not 1.4 HDMI (3D ready) so I send HDMI (video/audio) to my 3D tv and the other HDMI (audio) to my receiver...the sound is INCREDIBLE. I love all the wireless features this blu-ray player has...netflix, pandora, blockbuster, and many more. Very easy to set up and use. I highly recommend both the Samsung 6900 and even more so the 7900 because of the two HDMI outputs. I have had NO problems at all with either blu-ray player...no heat issues. I would rate 4 stars for the features because the 6900 doesn't have the extra HDMI output...every blu-ray player should have two. The 3D experience is AMAZING everyone who comes over is blown away by it and wants to come back when the next 3D blu-ray movie comes out...I don't really notice crosstalk (ghosting) and it's not a problem for me nor anyone else that has watched it at my house...I even think 3D on my Samsung UN46C8000 HDTV is better than in the theaters. No matter which Samsung blu-ray player you pick the 6900 or the 7900 the choice depends on your needs because both have SUPERB picture quality and audio...PERFECTION!!!
lots of features, wireless reception wanting.

I purchase this the BD-C6900 with a samsung 58" 3d plasma. There are a lot of features and wireless was easy to setup, I use it a lot, Blu Rays are quick to load and I have yet to have any problem playing anything. I do use it to stream netflix. The reason it did not get a 5 is becuase of the wireless reception. My netflix are constantly having to wait for signal, so my movies stop. It is not my router or internet speed, because I have just replaced my router and I have a 10mb download. I have a sony BD playing in my bedroom about 15 feet from my media room and it streams much better with it's wireless connections(no closer to my router than the samsung), I also use a Wii to stream on another floor and it works flawlessly (about 3 years old). All in all, I am happy and since the picture quality and speed of loading are great, it replace a sharp bdplayer that was 3 years old and took forever to load even after firmware updates. i would say that blu rays take about 3-5 seconds to load
Scratches AGAIN?

I bought the 3D Plasma package from amazon several week ago (58" 7000 series plasma, 3D glasses, movie, 3D bluray player BD-C6900 series). Delivery was first class, installed... everything works great. But... I received "MY FIRST" 3D bluray player which had finger prints and scratches along the top of the player. The unit worked fine but it looked like cats went to war on it. Since I payed for a new player, I want a new player (and they're not cheap). I called Amazon and requested a return... no problem. Player number 2, worse... it looked like someone tried to remove the top layer of the player with a screw driver and left huge marks along the front of the player. These players are suppose to be NEW??? Right??? at almost $300 why are these units so abused when "shipped new"??? there was no damage to the box during shipping. It just looks like these players have been used at some point. Very sad from such a great company.
Good Player

Reviewer: Working Man,
We got this player as part of the Amazon Package. The first player we got had scratches on the top, the film was also gone. It felt like a refurbished unit. We wrote Amazon and with-in 1 hour we had are return authorization and a new one on the way.

We have an "N" Wi-Fi network and get a good signal to the player. I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of the apps I don't want from the screen. Our favorite app is Pandora.

When we stream a movie from netflix, the first half of the movie runs really well with high definition, than the retrieving screen comes up. Sometimes it goes for only one minute before it comes up again and than again and again. On some movies it gets so annoying that we finished streaming using our wii, even though the quality is not nearly as good. We have not had the problem mentioned elsewhere about the sound being out of synch with the video.

The 3D aspect of the system is really fun. We have to be careful or else we end up with a headache. There are only a few 3D movies out, so get the player for other reasons than the 3D, until more movies come out.

I unboxed the blu-ray player and installed it using 5 of the 7 audio analog outputs, since I don't have an HDMI compatible AVR, and I don't have any 7.1 blu-ray discs; they are all 5.1. Setup was free of all mystery. I used the Wi-Fi connection, following the setup instructions, and it worked perfectly, connecting to my Cisco/LinkSys wireless router. It then wanted to upgrade the operating system via the Wi-Fi, which I let it do. It was fast and worked flawlessly, giving appropriate visual feedback as the upgrade progressed. The default setups seemed to be the most logical, and exactly what I needed. As the setup guide recommended, I turned the light show on top to Auto, so it's turned off while a movie is playing.

Then I went to the various services, Hulu, etc., and it wanted to update all of those apps, in turn, and I let it do that, too. Everything worked flawlessly over the Wi-Fi connection.

The first Blu-Ray disk we watched was Avatar. The sound was extraordinary as was the video. I also have an HD-DVD player, and my recollection is that this disk was even sharper on my old Sony 57" CRT-based RPTV than I remember from my HD-DVD disks, although I didn't do an A-B comparison, since I don't have Avatar in HD-DVD. I didn't think the picture could look as good as it did. I seem to have more life left in my old Sony. Of course, I reconverged the TV before playing the movie.

We watched several Blu-Ray movies since, and I'm still super-impressed. My subwoofer is a JL Audio Fathom f113, and it's a veritable beast, with incredible clarity, speed and sub-terranean depth. I also use a Butt-Kicker attached to my couch that is connected in parallel with the sub-woofer, set for audio below 40Hz. If you've never experienced that, you're missing something amazing!

In short, I don't see how anyone can go wrong with the C6900, especially at the price at which Amazon is selling it. And, that's without trying the 3-D capability, since I'm lucky my TV is still 2-D.
